Dan Hogan
Dan is a Structural Engineer who has been practicing continuously since 1988. After graduating from the University of Colorado, he began work for a firm specializing in providing structural design for the gaming industry. He was a key contributor to many projects including high rise towers and parking structures in Nevada and California. Participation in projects of this nature provided him with an extensive knowledge of design practices for both mildly reinforced and post- tensioned concrete. During this time, he also developed a thorough understanding of seismic design. This knowledge was key in earning his initial license as a Civil Engineer in the State of California in 1991.
Following this engagement, Dan returned home to Montana and began work for a firm offering multi-discipline engineering services primarily in Montana and California. He added his Montana Professional Engineer's registration soon after starting with that company and followed up with his California Structural Engineering license in 1996. While working with this firm, Dan was able to expand upon his design experience and gained expertise in the design of masonry, steel and wood structures. He also maintained his focus on seismic design through his continuous practice in the high seismic demand regions of Montana and California.
After a rewarding period working for that company, Dan sought to pursue the challenges of small business ownership and founded Aegis Engineering Incorporated. Since that time, he has enjoyed close relationships with many clients and built on his practice in Montana and California. Although his practice has focused on these two states, Dan has consistently contributed to the success of projects throughout the western U.S.
Dan has also been actively involved in professional organizations such as ASCE, NSPE and MSE, serving on the board of MSE for two years. Dan is also committed to maintaining and expanding his technical knowledge and skills through continuing education. His focus in this regard has been to remain on the cutting edge of seismic design.
